Dr. Cerami has been the inventor or co-inventor of over 150 issued US patents and hundreds of foreign counterparts.
Dr. Cerami identified the pathological properties associated with the molecule now known as TNF, and is the co-inventor of the patent describing the use of the anti-TNF monoclonal antibodies to treat inflammatory diseases. These patents form the basis for Remicaid and Humira, which are widely used for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis, psoriasis and Crohn’s Disease.
Dr. Cerami is the a co-inventor of ALT-711, an AGE-breaker that is undergoing clinical trials for the treatment of age related vascular stiffness.
Dr. Cerami is a co-inventor of a series of patents describing the tissue protective use of erythropoietin derivatives that his team created.
Dr. Cerami is a co-inventor of ARA 290, an 11 amino acid peptide which is tissue protective, that is currently in Phase II Clinical trials in the Netherlands
